AT&T To Unlock Off-Contract iPhone’s Starting From This Sunday April 8!
Wohoo! Yes folks you read that right. Starting from April 8 of this month, AT&T is going to start unlocking off-contract iPhone’s. Completely free!
This has got to be one of the biggest news for those users who are waiting to unlock their iPhone’s for free. AT&T has issued an official statement mentioning they are going to unlock off-contract iPhone’s starting from April 8.
Here is the full statement:
Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will offer qualifying customers the ability to unlock their AT&T iPhones. The only requirements are that a customer’s account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee.
This means that those users who have finished their two year contract with AT&T are eligible for unlocking their iPhone’s.
Although this is a huge news to those users waiting for unlocking iPhone, there is catch for those users with an iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08.
iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08 users can unlock their iPhone’s but that would mean you have paid an early termination fees and as you already know iPhone 4 was launched in June 24 so that means the two year contract of your iPhone is still valid.
Now this does not mean you won’t be able to unlock iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08. The best option is now to wait until April 8 and once the unlocking process begins you can email AT&T whether your iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08 can be unlocked or not.
